About the Chamber
The Houston Metropolitan Chamber is in its 61st year of Connecting Commerce & Community – not just as a motto but also as a way of doing business. We cover a wide swath along the Interstate-10, Westheimer, Bellaire and South Main corridors. We include several neighborhoods and unique communities. The diversity of the area encourages us to look for ways to partner with all facets of the business community to achieve goals that are mutually beneficial.
As a not-for-profit volunteer organization of about 500 members, the Chamber’s policies and direction are set by a 12-member board that includes officers, division vice chairs and directors. The 2010 Program of Action will be accomplished by five divisions, each with several committees. The divisions are Business Development, Community Services, Finance, Member Services, and Special Projects. We also have a 501(c)(3) entity – the Helen & Clyde Willbern Scholarship Foundation.
The committees engage in activities in the areas of education, economic development, business resources, government affairs, special activities, and a wide variety of other interests. The Chamber’s Leadership 20/20 program is in its 18th year of providing area professionals with an overview of what is happening in the fields of criminal justice, education, quality of life, the arts, civic engagement, state and local government, health and human services, and media.
