Activities for You - Rocky Mountains Lodging Near Yellowstone National Park

You'll see lots of elk in Yellowstone! From visiting famous Yellowstone National Park to Fly Fishing in the Yellowstone River, there is more to do here than most people think. Most of our guests enjoy the fact that we are only 30 minutes from the north gate of Yellowstone National Park, away from the crowds that come to Yellowstone during the hectic summer months. Yellowstone Park is an incredible place, and cannot be seen in just one day. To see all of Yellowstone, we recommend at least 2 to 3 days to navigate through the park.

Yellowstone National Park is one of the most popular national parks in the United States. Since the mid sixties, at least two million tourists have visited the park almost every year. There are a total of nine visitor centers and museums at Yellowstone.

Most of our guests that stay at Shadowood are NOT campers, but would like to enjoy this scenic wonder. So we feel we have the perfect solution. We are far enough from the crowds, yet close enough to the northern entrance in Gardiner. If you are inclined to want to visit the park, we can possibly arrange a personal tour guide for you. Please let us know well in advance.

Do NOT feed the bears at Yellowstone. In the early history of the park, visitors were allowed, and sometimes even encouraged, to feed the bears. The bears had learned to beg for food, and visitors welcomed the chance to get their pictures taken with them. This led to numerous injuries to humans each year. In 1970, park officials changed their policy and started a vigorous program to educate the public on the dangers of close contact with bears, and to try to eliminate opportunities for bears to find food in campgrounds and trash collection areas.

A Yellowstone National Park guided Photo Safari is available. If you are interested in pursuing this activity, please let us know well in advance, and we will assist you in this.
